Community news will bring Northern Virginia together
Free speech is what makes America exceptional. And free speech all starts at the community level with news reporting that spurs robust debate and discourse on the issues that impact us the most.
About us
The Northern Virginia News Foundation (NVNF) was founded in 2020 by a group of entrepreneurs committed to rebuilding community news in Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington and Prince William Counties.
NVNF is non-partisan and unyielding on the principle that every individual should have the freedom to express their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation.
NVNF is supportive of more local government transparency– of clearer and more forthright communication on performance, spending, taxes, public salaries, pensions and debt. Citizens have been deprived of the perspective on all of the above they need to make informed decisions.
But our primary concern isn’t government. It’s people.
It’s our opinion that the decline of community news in Northern Virginia has led to a corresponding decline in civility. We started the NVNF to support reporting on new local business ventures, little league scores, wedding and birth announcements and the far flung accomplishments of Nova natives of which we can all be proud.
When we know less of the “good stuff” about our neighbors, it’s a bad thing.
More community news means more community. That’s the NVNF mantra. Join us!
